DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — Monday night, the Dorchester District Two Educational Foundation got a major boost.
The Larry and Rebecca Collett Foundation pledged more than $30,000 for scholarships in Dorchester County.
Part of the donation will go to the Joseph R. Pye Legacy Scholarship.
The scholarship was created to ensure that the district’s former superintendent’s legacy of meaningful education lasts for generations and is given to a DD2 graduate pursuing a career in education.
“Preparing children for a world none of us can possibly predict requires a very special person. That is a teacher,” Larry Collett said. “An investment in the Joseph R. Pye Legacy Scholarship is an investment in our future teachers and our young learners, which are at the very core of our mission.”
